He feels like he could be blown over by a feather as Morrible studies him, her lips twisted into a frown.
He hadn’t known what to expect when he got here, but this, her, standing there while Elphaba is nowhere to be found, was not it.
“Where is she?” he murmurs, his hands sliding to grip Glinda’s shoulders, pushing her away just far enough to see her eyes. “Where is Elphaba?”

“Don’t speak,” Fiyero warns him, and Feldspur knows deep in his bones that this is so much worse than he had anticipated when Fiyero had woken him up in the middle of the night to race toward the Emerald City, Madam Morrible’s announcement still ringing in their ears.
Never in twenty six years has Fiyero asked him to be silent, to pretend to be something he isn’t, to keep quiet for the sake and comfort of others.
But now, here, as he brushes his hand down Feldspur’s mane and whispers into his ear, his voice and hands alike trembling in the darkness of the once vibrant Emerald City, he knows that this is it.
