Summary
Yang and Ruby's father had always warned them about vampires - first as bedtime stories when they were young, then increasingly stark cautioning as they grew older. Vampires, he said, were terrifying predators in the night, snatching humans into the shadows to drain them of blood. But for their family, vampires were worse: Yang and Ruby weren't human. They were something else.
Myth quickly becomes reality, however, and expectations are shattered as events and trauma bring an unlikely group together to hold one another up in the face of dangers old and new.
Or: Blake and Yang have different curses and being each other's childhood boogeyman doesn't mean they can't Romeo-and-Juliet as beings that feed on mortals to survive.

[An alternate universe, in which the story of Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 4 is mixed with RWBY’s characters and setting- with some twists.]
Yang’s been living in a world run by walkers for most of her life. She’s become used to it, honestly- but that by no means implies she likes it. Nobody wants to spend every waking hour in fear that an angry walker horde will take away their little sister. On top of that? She and Ruby barely have any food, and the car they stole back in Mistral is running on fumes. At this point, Yang is desperate to finally find them a place to call home.
Everything changes after one car crash.
When Yang wakes up in an old bedroom of an abandoned boarding school, she’s expecting to be shot the moment she walks out. Instead, she finds herself and Ruby welcomed into a faction of kids their age who’ve claimed the school grounds. For the first time in years, Yang finally thinks they’ve stumbled upon a place they can call home- but everything is not as it seems, and the mysteries that result from this group may prove to be more dangerous than any walker.
