Mike and Will are snowed-in in their tiny New York apartment. Mike doesn’t like that Will has a boyfriend. Will thinks Mike might be concussed. Oh and Mike is writing a lot… maybe it is for a girl? Will thinks there might be someone he likes… Carlton thinks so too

“You could always give him one of the hundreds of drawings you have of me.”Will splutters, indignant, “I do not have hundreds of drawings of you, Mike!” He might.
If Will were in a more malignant mood he’d probably throw back in Mike’s face the dozens of stories Mike had written about a certain knight and his love for a princess under a terrible curse. He had always thought the stories to be about El, so one day when Max was over he showed her one. When she was finished reading she said, “You think this is about El?” and promptly laughed so hard she fell off the couch. Then she dragged him to the closest Kinko’s to make a copy to take home.

Summary
"Will, why wouldn't I care?," Mike asks.
Will stops and turns to face Mike. God, the confusion and hurt on his face are infuriating. Can't this boy ever notice anything? Maybe if he noticed more, they wouldn't be in this situation. They would be Will and Mike, walking home after a hang out. They wouldn't be El's brother and El's ex-boyfriend, at odds in the woods after one of them made the mistake of mentioning the dead girl they both love too much.
"Because, Mike!," Will replies in his same sharp tone from before, getting louder and more desperately angry with each word. "All of you still walk on eggshells around me, and when you're not treating me like a fucking toddler, you treat me like a stand in for El!"

Holly gets taken by Vecna and Mike knows he has bigger problems than his unrequited feelings (or so he thinks) for Will Byers. That doesn't stop him from spilling his guts anyway and avoiding the ensuing conversation by diving headfirst into the mindscape to save his baby sister, and maybe find Max along the way. But Will isn't going to let him get away with a confession that easily. AKA Mike is clocked by more than one person in the midst of the apocalypse and figures he might as well go for broke.

“Guys, Mike’s not like me, he just can’t name characters.” They both give him a pointed look, clearly not believing a word. “I’m serious, every character is a reference to someone we know.”
“Are they now?” Dustin raises an eyebrow at him.
“Yes!” Will is perhaps a bit exasperated, “Stephen and Jay are clearly Steve and Robin, and James is Hopper,” at the blank look they give him, he clarifies, “his first name is Jim.”
This somehow only makes Lucas seem more unimpressed, “okay, but you do see how that’s more suspicious right?”
“What? That Mike can’t come up with names?”
“No,” Lucas shakes his head and clasps Will in the shoulder, “that the first name Mike thought to cannibalize when coming up with a boyfriend for you was his own”.The party grows closer after Will moves in with the Wheelers, picking up D&D again. It all goes well until Mike introduces a new character, Sir. Gabriel Whepler, whose sole purpose seems to be flirting with Will.
