Summary
To a witcher, touch is almost never a good thing.
Touch means something or someone has gotten too close. Close enough to rend open the places where armour doesn’t protect the vulnerabilities underneath. Close enough to see the pulse where it beats just under the surface, to identify where to strike.
To Geralt, touch is everything beyond that, too. He craves the moments where touch doesn’t mean pain, damage, or potential death, but where it means safety and care. In a witcher’s life, those moments are far and few between.
Geralt bears it and watches the seasons change until he can take out that part of himself for winter, and let it breathe.He’s used to it, and he’s already endured it for decades when he meets Jaskier

Summary
Geralt stands there and looks at them and wants. Wants what they have with each other, mostly, but here, seeing them so content without him, he can also admit that he wants them — both of them. He can’t have either, of course; that much is obvious even to him. But that doesn’t matter to his traitorous heart, which wants and wants and wants, which yearns for things he cannot have.
He doesn’t know how long he stands there, unable to tear himself away. He watches, and yearns, and only returns to his initial task when Yen snuffles and burrows further into Jaskier, his arms tightening around her even in sleep. It’s not his place to intrude.
Or: Jaskier and Yennefer keep joking about being married. Except from the outside, it doesn’t look like they’re joking.

Geralt growled, "An assassin was sent for me when I was in Flotsam, I don't know who by" he pulled down his collar to show the mostly-healed wound on his shoulder, "but they were good. I was unprepared, and they stabbed with this dagger," he gestured to the weapon in front of him, "before they ran. They could have killed me, but they didn't."
"You think it was on purpose?" Yennefer's brow furrowed
"I think it was a message."
Geralt is attacked by an assassin, who leaves him with Jaskier's dagger in his shoulder and a lock of his bard's hair. Geralt works to save his friend, but there is something more sinister lurking beneath the surface.Bookmarked by jadajuice
