Summary
“You think he took something?” Eddie asked, distracted.
His focus was fixed on the way Buck’s other hand had come up to his face, fingertips trailing softly along his cheekbone, worshipful and unfiltered.
“Pretty,” Buck whispered. “So pretty. Like… like a doll. Or…no. Not a doll. They can be creepy.”

Eddie did not reach for his hand. “What do you want, Evan Buckley?”
Buck shrugged as he dropped his hand back to his side. “I need you to come to Texas with me.”
He hadn’t been expecting that. “Excuse me?” Eddie asked, eyebrows raising nearly to his hairline in surprise.
“Texas. Your family needs you.”

He swiped to answer. “Hey, Maddie,” he said, keeping his voice low. “Is everything alright?”
“Have you spoken to Buck today?” she asked, skipping right past any pleasantries.
“We aren’t exactly on speaking terms right now,” Eddie admitted, his gut twisting at the reminder. “I haven’t seen him except at work.”
“Damnit,” she swore. “So, nothing since Tuesday?”
“No, nothing.” A pause. Then, hesitant: “Maddie… is something wrong? Is Buck…” He exhaled sharply. “Is everything okay?”

“I knew this was a bad idea,” Eddie huffed. “We aren’t meant to be out in this type of weather.”
“We’re fine,” Buck assured, nudging Eddie’s shoulder playfully. “Besides, we’ve got supplies, first aid, and Bobby leading the way. What’s the worst that could happen?”
Eddie groaned. “Don’t say things like that.”
“Why? Afraid I’m going to jinx us?”
“I don’t believe in jinxes,” Eddie shot back, narrowing his eyes. “But I also don’t think we need to give the universe any more ideas.”

Summary
Maybe it was because the two of them became such close friends, but in Eddie’s mind scenting Buck would be the worst possible betrayal of their friendship. Buck went to great lengths to keep that part of himself private, and as he was so giving of every other part of himself, Eddie felt he deserved to keep that to himself.
It felt like a secret agreement between them, even if Buck didn’t have the whole picture. It was something that always kept a sliver of distance between them. Eddie didn’t examine why he needed that, maybe it was just habit.
OR
Eddie has found his own way of coping with his frustratingly overdeveloped alpha senses. Scent blockers have little effect on him, so he chooses not use his heightened sense of smell unless he has to. Finding out Buck is an omega comes as a shock, but he deals with it fine. Sort of. It's not as if that sort of thing is supposed to matter any more.
Buck knows his crush on Eddie can't go anywhere. That's precisely why he ignores it. But Eddie's struggle with what it means to be an alpha is much worse than he thought, and he's the last person Eddie should be turning to for help.

Summary
Buck is adopting Chris, and Eddie has found a useful little loophole to speed up the process: they're getting married!
It's only for the paperwork, of course. They're both in relationships, and not with each other. And speaking of relationships, what Marisol and Tommy don't know won't hurt them, right?
It's not like they're cheating... they're just getting married!
It's no big deal.- Language:
