Ahsoka’s eyes widen a little. “Have you written a will?”
“Jedi don’t write wills,” he shrugs off. The word slaves hangs on the tip of his tongue like a poisoned weight, threatening to substitute the first word instead; he feels like he has to stretch his mouth carefully so not to let the wrong word slip. “We’re not supposed to own possessions, our lightsabers are preserved by our lineages, and we have our own traditions for taking care of the bodies, so there’s no need.”
Ahsoka, he wants to grit out. You are fucking fourteen years old. You shouldn’t be thinking about what you should write in your final testaments so we know what to do if you die. You shouldn’t be thinking about dying at all.
