They were in an abandoned hospital.
No magic. No Healers. No Draco.Just him and her.
And the baby that was coming whether they were ready or not.
Harry made the decision instantly.
“Hermione,” he said, trying and failing to keep his voice calm, “I think… I think I’m going to have to deliver the baby.”
She stared at him like he had just suggested setting her on fire.
“What?”
He nodded, like if he committed hard enough it would become true.
“Yes.”
“Harry.”
“Yes.”
“Do you know how to do this?”
He froze. “…Yes.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“When did you deliver a baby last?”
“…In training.”
She stared at him.
“As an Auror.”
She kept staring.
“Well,” he amended weakly, “it was more of me watching a video.”
Her expression shifted into something murderous.
“Harry James Potter.”
Another contraction slammed into her and she screamed.
“Okay!” he said quickly. “Okay— right— we’re doing this— it’s fine— everything’s fine—”
Everything was not fine.

Summary
The war is over, and the Ministry is determined to convince the wizarding world that healing has followed. Hermione Granger knows better. Outside the office, her life narrows to a small, uneasy orbit: two best friends who still look at her as though she is seventeen, Friday nights at Grimmauld Place with a circle of former enemies turned reluctant allies, and Draco Malfoy—officially reformed, permanently reserved. They share rooms, speak when required, and otherwise maintain an unspoken agreement to leave the past untouched.
But the wizarding population is declining, and the Ministry is desperate for solutions. When the public fails to cooperate, the response is swift and severe: a compulsory marriage law for every single magical citizen over eighteen.
