    He gazes into Ivan’s eyes and Ivan’s breath catches in his throat, for once. His Till doesn't at him like that. Like it means something. Ivan takes a step back but Till doesn't let him get very far. There's a bitter smile on his face. 

    "You died in front of me. I had to grieve you.”

     

    Now Ivan understands what that look is. It's longing, missing. Till isn't trying to look away from him. He's trying to stop himself from looking.

     

    “I lost you and then I had to continue like it didn't matter. Like I hadn't just– watched you die. Like the world hadn't ended.”

    Or

    Teen Ivan goes a decade into the future and meets Till but this Till is different and soft around the edges and Ivan finds himself confused how to deal with it.
