Summary

'Where is he?’ he demanded, his voice breaking against the colossal thrones like a wooden spear against the walls of Troy. The crowd stirred over his shoulder, whispers amongst ghosts, but Achilles paid them no mind.
‘And who do you speak of?’ asked Minos, the barbs of his lashing tongue catching Achilles’s skin, tearing what little remained unmarked. He turned his attention to the last of the judges, and spoke solely to Rhadamanthus.
‘Patroclus.’

Summary
Patroclus stared at his drawing often, studying the lines, the details, finding faults immediately. Not in the man himself, but in the inadequate way Patroclus had captured him. Achilles was like a stream of sunlight through the clouds, there one moment and gone the next; impossible to capture. Pat found himself doodling fiery green eyes on the margins of his notebook during art history class, recalling his stare, the mix of emotions behind it. Each time Patroclus finished, he found they weren’t the same, his memory of Achilles fading and details being replaced with glowing fantasies.
Having a crush on the subject of your Life Drawing class probably wasn’t very ethical, but Patroclus couldn’t tamp it down if he tried. Achilles was too stunning, too invasive; he demanded attention. Pat wondered what Achilles did outside of volunteering for art students, if he was an actual model who posed in front of cameras or strutted on cat walks. Patroclus had to know.

He can’t really be blamed, because pseudo-time-travel via dreams isn’t quite the course one expects their life to take, so he believes he’s warranted the “What the fuck?” and literal double takes as he stands outside of the motel in the pajamas he fell asleep in, his sleep joggers and one of Patrick’s bird shirts.

Patrick swallows. David shouldn’t be able to stop him in his tracks like this. They’ve been together long enough that 'boyfriend; rolls easily off the tongue, and his apartment feels foreign and dark without David’s illuminating presence. He shouldn’t render him speechless anymore, sending him right back to those early days where David would banter with him over a bottle of juice and momentarily cut off the power supply to his brain.

He’d had a brief period of obsession with Disney’s Pinocchio as a child and had thrown a spectacular tantrum when his parents refused to make shooting stars appear for him on command. Adelina had explained that that was why they were so special. You don’t get all the wishes you want, you only get them if you’re really lucky and you take the time to look.
David is pretty sure he's seen a couple before, and those wishes certainly didn’t come true, but he can’t help himself. He stares at the star flying across the sky and thinks as loudly as he can.
I wish I knew what’s going on in Patrick’s head.
