The pile of blankets stirred at the sound of Steph’s voice, and the person—a boy—no, not a boy, a teenager, but not a very big one—sat up and looked vaguely in her direction. More past her, than at her, but she could see his face clearly enough.
Steph froze in shock. “Oh my god,” she whispered.
It wasn’t possible. But she’d spent enough time looking at pictures of him, from his file, in Alfred’s photo albums, from the framed portrait on the wall...she knew that face.

Jason, the plaque read. Just that. Just….Jason. There were other cases in the Cave, other costumes on display, but somehow, this one felt different.
Stephanie wasn’t stupid; she knew Robin’s colors well as any Gotham kid did. It was Dick’s old costume. (Stephanie knew she wasn’t even supposed to know that name; Batman had had a concussion when he’d called Nightwing by it, and they’d both been cagey with her for months afterwards.) It was the costume he’d worn before he’d grown up and become Nightwing. So why this case, with this costume, but a different name?

While it might come as no surprise that Stephanie Brown is possibly not the most organized person in the world, she’s very good at keeping her life together, thank you very much. In fact, she takes immeasurable pride in the fact that she manages to stay on track in her college courses, don a cape and fight crime at night and sustain social life.
…she’s not sure how well she actually does it, but that’s besides the point.
Or, after a rough day when nothing seems to go her way, Steph hits a low point. Cue angst and ponderings of one's self-worth.
