A figure stands before him.
Carlo flinches, startling at the sight. He instinctively takes a step back, feet slipping over scattered cards. He fumbles on the floor for only a moment before scrambling to his feet, upright once more, eyes racing to find whatever lay in the darkened corner.
Before him a figure dark and looming stands, its eyes a piercing lance, its face a mirrored reflection of Carlo’s own.
Carlo stares up at the figure. The puppet called P stares back.

An alternate ending to 4x05. When Merlin interrupts Arthur's negotiations with Queen Annis she agrees to Trial by Single Combat, but only if Arthur's servant is the Champion. With little other choice Arthur must agree and face losing his longest and oldest friend. But as much as this has turned Arthur's world into chaos Merlin seems strangely confident.
