Summary
This hopefully shortish story is not part of my Sierra Falls Horizons hockey romance series, but it is inter-related and it takes place in the same universe. It also of course exists in the same universe as my Do Not Fall In Love With A Rock Star series.
I've always wanted to set a love story during the Pandemic lockdown but while I played with a few ideas, they never really landed. Exploring lockdown through the eyes of an NHL player seemed interesting so here goes. I dislike the Tampa Bay Lightning intensely but I've used that team just for the purposes of scheduling given that they won the 2020 Stanley Cup during the COVID-19 global pandemic. So the fictional Armada based in the fictional Halcyon Bay, Florida follow the game schedule of the Lightning - but have nothing else in common with them.

Summary
I've been following the startling run of the Buffalo Sabres this 2025-26 NHL Season. They haven't made a playoffs in 14 consecutive seasons and are consistently a source of mockery in the league.
So this story was inspired by them plus the difference that Bedard has made to the Blackhawks and Celebrini has made to the Sharks. Defnitely not inspired by the players themselves, but rather the impact that they've been able to have on struggling teams. I was thinking about what it must be like for these talented, brilliant first round picks to be sent to the worst teams. How hard must it be? Also - how hard must it be to be on a team that's always losing? It has to be soul-destroying.
Not part of my Sierra Falls Horizons hockey romance series, but it is inter-related and it takes place in the same universe. It also of course exists in the same universe as my Do Not Fall In Love With A Rock Star series.

Summary
This was supposed to be a short story, perhaps 12,000 words or so but then I started going down the rabbit hole of women's college hockey and lack of parity with the men's college hockey and then 12,000 words became a lot more .. :P
My husband can't understand why I keep writing so many stories that pretty much no one reads except me. Correction - he knows exactly why I do it - I'm so hopeless :D
It's part of my Sierra Falls Horizons hockey romance series. Reading order is:
1. A Season Kept Secret (Dominic Kane and Winter Xu)
2. The Long Season (Dominic Kane and Winter Xu)
3. CheckedCarter is a minor character in A Season Kept Secret and also The Long Season. He's also mentioned The Fiction Alcove: A Bookshop Romance. At least I managed to keep that story short :)

Oh my goodness, I was not going to post this, but the lovely kkaarlyy who is one of the tiny, tiny number of readers making their way through my original fic who actually comments (wow!) and she mentioned that she wanted to know more about Michael and Claire.
Weirdly enough, their story came first before any of the other stories in the Sierra Falls Horizons series. I wrote about them when I knew nothing about hockey except what I'd read in hockey romances (i.e. not much!) and I wrote about them before I even though of the Horizons. When I started writing the Horizons series, I kind of reached back and pulled Michael and Claire into this world..
I will not be able to post the whole story for a while because:
1. I have a lot of edits to make to make it ok for sharing/posting and also a lot generally just to better reflect this story's place in the wider Horizons universe; and
2. I have a few other stories in the series to finish first haha. But here are a few chapters just to prove that their story does exist and the rest will come one day!!

Summary
In the real world, hockey players aren't as beautiful, clever or steadfast as they are in hockey romances. Many were given too much, too soon - before they were intellectually or emotionally equipped to handle it. They're frequently absent. Many cheat. Many often pick partners on the basis of appearance and status but then act surprised when it implodes.
The culture that surrounds them rewards aggression and silence not reflection. You don’t have to look far to see it. Listen to hockey podcasts like Slangin' the Bizkit or to headlines about the Hockey Canada case and the long history of entitlement, toxic masculinity, and cover-ups in not only the NHL but college hockey & junior hockey.
Look at how the Tkachuk brothers behaved at the Four Nations Face-Off in 2024—starting three fights in the opening seconds, not because they’d been wronged, but to “set the tone” and “make a statement.” They called it energy and team-bonding; in truth it was theatre, pre-emptive aggression dressed up as leadership.

Summary
Author's Note: My Fairy Tale Manifesto: These are my versions of a modern fairy tale. No castles or crowns, no girls rescued by princes or frogs turning into royalty. My stories will always be about people who fight to keep their integrity, push back against the machine, and still find ways to love and thrive.
I’m really tired of romance novels that flatten women into clichés: the main heroine desirable and capable, while every other woman is painted as a rival, trampy, or malicious. I dislike the careless language, the tired terms, the sex scenes that feel more like porn with a thin sliver of plot than lived intimacy. So these day, I'm writing my own versions of rock star romances, hockey romances - I'm so over what modern romance (especially new adult) looks like these days.

Summary
A series dedicated to my new favourite character Lady Lyanna Mormont of House Mormont. When we meet her she is just a child.
Part 1 - Lady Bear: is friendship fiction. No romance, no shippiness. Just an exploration of the burgeoning friendship between Lyanna and Sansa, Lyanna and Arya and most of all between Lyanna and Jon.
Part 2 - Seven Years Later: is a time jump forward seven years into the future and it is shippy with adult themes. There will be an incident that suddenly makes Jon see Lyanna in a different light - I definitely don't like the idea that he might have been attracted to her throughout etc.

“Brat,” Damien says, watching as his fiancee’s mouth curves upward in a slow, teasing smile. “Every scandalous thing I have done has been at your instigation!”
“So we could just add this one to the list then,” Beatrice retorts, shameless as always, and just laughs merrily at the expression on his face.
