Summary
A routine curse investigation goes south when Satoru and Suguru trigger the cursed spirit's trap--and wake up as tiny, adorably fluffy kittens. Unable to use their techniques (or even walk in a straight line), the two strongest sorcerers find themselves utterly helpless for the first time...until they're scooped up by a three year old Yuji Itadori, who adopts them as his new best friends.

The blue of Satoru’s eyes had not faded. It was as cataclysmic now as it had been on the day they first met.
“My dear consort eternal,” Satoru purred, “it has been a long time.”

He takes a deep breath in. Grave dirt, wet and loamy, and something green cut too short too young.
Yuuta-senpai.
Beside him, the couch dips with the weight of a body. Yuuji doesn’t have the energy to greet him, so they sit in silence. Yuuta-senpai doesn’t seem to mind.
“Long day?” A hoarse voice asks beside him after long enough for Yuuji to lose track, and really, he could ask the same right back. Yuuta-senpai sounds as tired as he feels.

Post-canon, Yuuta and Yuuji are both windswept and worn, burdened by the weight of their new responsibilities and unwilling to shirk the duty their power demands of them. In the midst of it all, they find each other.

Yuji smiled, full of razor-sharp teeth. “Okay.” His sing-song voice didn’t seem to match. “Megumi.”
Megumi wished Yuji would stop saying his name—each time he did it was like someone had reached a hand inside of his chest and grabbed his heart or some vital essence of him and left him breathless.
“I’ll be in your care.” Yuji mused, eyes wicked bright.
Megumi caught Yuji’s chin, tilting his head up to study his expression. “As long as you behave yourself.”

After a mission mix-up, Yuji gets stuck as a mermaid and is oblivious to his new abilities; Megumi pays for it with his sanity.
