Summary
“Everythin’ costs somethin’,” Maman tells him as she stirs the pot on the stove with care. Alastor sits on the counter next to her, legs swinging but careful not to kick at her cabinets. “If you want somethin’, you give somethin’. Hurt for healin’, luck for misfortune, death for life. That’s the way of the worlds. Exchanges ‘n deals.” She sets the pot to simmer and leans over to pinch Alastor’s cheeks. He pulls a frown to hide his laughter and swats at her hands. The next time she pauses in her humming, he points confidently to himself.
“Tha’s right, a deal’s how I got ya. My finest work, if I do say so myself. And I do,” Maman laughs. Alastor holds up his hands, palms up, and moves them slightly side-to-side while tilting his head in question. She waves him off. “Don’t you be worryin’ ‘bout that none. The exchange was well worth what I paid, I’ll tell ya that much. The rest is my business, now, ain’t it?” She tweaks his nose and Alastor hides his grin behind his hands.
“You’re the best deal I ever made, Al,” she says, voice soft. “Don’t ya ever forget it.”

Summary

Truly, the bottom of the barrel. Yet, events do not go the way Alastor imagined after they discover a strange way to bond.

Following the finale, the hotel and the Vees decide to forbid the now-free Alastor and the now-subdued Vox from seeing each other after the stunt they’ve pulled, afraid they’d cause more trouble for hell.
But obsessive hatred runs quite deep, and if the two can’t find a way to ruin each other’s lives in hell, they’d risk everything to find another way in another place.
Somewhere out there exists a universe in which Alastor and Vox are as close in every sense as possible. Geographically, temporally, emotionally. An alternative version of Al and Vincent on Earth in the modern times. One day, they begin to get spontaneously possessed by their demon counterparts, whose plan consists of tormenting each other in their bodies.
Their possessions won’t always be timely consistent, leading to a few teeny-tiny... mishaps.

Summary
It doesn't matter, altogether. The second demon laughs in his face, inflicting a wound on a psyche that will not heal for decades to come and develop into a lifelong obsession. A classic, really, haha!
But today is a time for a different jest, for the tried and true methods have failed. Today the second demon, against his better judgement, accepts the offer and makes the first the happiest man in Hell, if for a shortest moment. His dream is still alive, after all, and it's just the beginning.

Vox’s life is perfect, or at least as perfect as one's life can be in Hell.
It is a dream come true.

His mère would be looking for him. Would be worried sick.
“Um…” Charlie’s eyes darted to the others.
Angel sighed heavily. “Ya can’t go home, kid. It ain’t 1923 anymore.”
Alastor frowned.
“It’s 2024.”
Somehow that was harder to accept than the fact he was in Hell.
AKA
What if Alastor’s fight with Adam ended…differently? What if he was “purified” instead to the last moment he could have been redeemed? And, unfortunately for him, that was when he was only eleven.

“Why aren’t you sitting in the back of the bus?” Vox asked, his voice low but edged with a hint of intrigue, maybe even irritation.
The man raised an eyebrow, his tone calm as he responded, “The seats are open, aren’t they? Normally, nobody’s on this bus at this hour, so nobody minds. I’d hoped you wouldn’t either.”
Vox let out a weary sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I’m too tired to give a damn.”
The man tilted his head slightly, an amused but almost wary glint in his eye. “You’re saying that, but you still brought it up. Seems like it was enough of a… bother for you to mention.” He shifted, starting to rise, his movements measured and quiet, as though he were used to slipping out of places.
Without thinking, Vox’s hand lifted in a brief motion to stop him. “Look, you don’t have to move. I don’t— I don’t care.” He heard the words fall out of his mouth, an unfamiliar softness slipping into his tone.
The man paused, the faintest crease appearing on his brow before he settled back down. His shoulders relaxed, and he gave Vox a nod, his expression neutral but with a flicker of acknowledgment in his gaze. “Well, then. Thank you… for tolerating me.”

Summary
Alastor’s smile was sharper than usual, a sliver of defiance among the dried blood and inert body parts that decorated the streets. "The angels have had their fun painting the town red," he said. "Tonight, it’s our turn."
He dragged out the word "our," giving it two full syllables. It curled at the edges into a snarl, like a voice on the prowl, and Vox, despite his jangled nerves, wanted nothing more in that moment than to follow it.
"All right," he said. "You’re on. Show me how to be happy that I’m spending another year in Hell."
(Vox and Alastor survive the first Extermination since the start of their partnership. They celebrate together with a night on the town.)

Vox traps Alastor in a sitcom.
Nobody's mental state can hold up through endless laugh track after laugh track: it's impossible. It's a surefire way to bring Vox's greatest enemy to his knees, and there's no way this will end with Vox making himself look like a total fool. Right? Right.

Manipulation, intimidation, torture of many kinds, it's the tactic he's learned to live by.Jouno is also a great deceiver.
He's an excellent actor, spewing lies left and right in a blink with a flawless poker face.
He constantly hides behind a mask, a fabricated version of who he is to never let anyone know his true intentions, always keeping the target second guessing.
He's become so good at it, that he ended up losing himself in the facade, forgetting that he ever had a heart in the first place.But no matter if you think about it or not, a heart doesn't stop beating.
