Once upon a time, a wind had both a secret and a lie.
Secrets and lies are both delicious things, but can be like dynamite and matches if not handled correctly. Now, September, who practically wore her heart on her sleeve, knew how to deal with them. And this particular secret, hidden by layers and layers of nothing but fabric and lies, was to stay hidden at all costs. She'd do anything to keep it to herself, to keep it in even if it kills her.

Summary
Jack was sick of waiting. Day after day of just checking the news, hanging onto blind hope, watching Jupiter sink deeper and deeper into his work that now three people they love are missing. He knows that his parents are never coming back, at this point they've probably been dead for years. He accepted it when all the missions to find them were abruptly canceled by the league at the start of the war, when searches for missing people were at its peak, wanting to bring them back home before the Republics invading forces got ahold of them.
It's too late for them. Maybe it always was.
But its not too late for Morrigan
Ever since he got the news that her plane had gone MIA in Prosper, the nagging thought that he should find her has been in his head, especially with his growing frustration with the league's and Wunsocs incompetence. After all, in their eyes, a dead wundersmith is a good wundersmith. Jack, however, disagrees. He wants her back, he wants his family back, he wants the normal that they had back.
Even if it means running off to the republic underneath a new identity to find the most evil man alive and (hopefully) convince him to find Morrigan.After all that's what family does.

“I’m thinking of ending things.”
James pressed his lips together hard as he fought the urge to suck in a breath at the words. He instinctively reached for his binder of prepared materials and began to flip through it as if it would have the answer, rustling the pages frantically as he did.
“Hello?”
James flinched. “Um, hi, yes sorry it’s uh-- it’s my first day.”
A pause. Then, dry as a bone: “Brilliant. You’d think they’d at least train you to tell people not to kill themselves before handing you a phone.”
James froze, then panicked. “Oh God-- you’re right, I mean, of course-- I didn’t-- oh, shit, I just--”
James’s rambling was interrupted by a quiet sound, over so quickly he almost missed it.
The caller had laughed.

“I don’t care,” Mike mumbles, “you’re warm and I’m cold. This is nice.”

His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
