Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”

Summary
The 2001 G1 Hong Kong Vase. At the front of everyone's minds for it is Japan's representative, Stay Gold. This is her last chance to prove herself and win a Grade One victory, after six years of falling just short of victory over and over again. But Stay Gold only has one thing on her mind, and that is catching a glimpse of a golden scenery.
Though, after so many years of just barely missing it, she's just about accepted that it might be impossible. Perhaps it'd be fine if she moves on after her final race, passing the reigns to someone else to see the incredible view she's been wandering around to search for. Or perhaps she'll follow the memories of "the other Stay Gold", and she'll finally witness a view that belongs to only her.
Well, there's no use thinking about it so much. The journey's been fun, so let's just see it to the end.
