Jeff shakes his head. It’s stupid, the book can’t see him. But he keeps thinking about how every book about queer people starts like that, like if you don’t know your sexuality or gender you don’t know who you are, and that’s bullshit. He knows exactly who he is. He’s Jeff Winger, he’s an asshole, and he’s Annie Edison’s person. That’s all he needs to know.
Just remember you’re human, the book says. That’s the most important part.
Jeff rolls his eyes and hides the book under his bed, where he puts all the things he swears he’ll never look at again but always does.
