Summary
The originals of the following pages were received in a bundle, arranged in an approximate order but bound only in the temporary fashion customary for field notes in the early 1500s. I have transcribed them for your archives, though certain elements, such as the flora pressed between some of the pages or the stains on others, are irreproducible and I have noted them accordingly. The headings are mine, and the transcription also includes my commentary on some of the more obscure points in the text as well as my reproduction of the original marginalia. Although the identities of the respective authors were evident from the handwriting in the original, in this copy I have taken the liberty of inserting indications as to their identity.

Summary
The feast of Midwinter’s Night drew near. Each year the apprentices of the Mirdain took the practice gems that they made while learning to bind light to matter and shattered them into pebble-sized pieces, which they stuck to tree-limbs with lumps of resin so that in the darkness the trees glittered as if the stars of the sky were caught in their branches. Elves and Dwarves and Men went about the streets of Ost-in-Edhil singing, and the shapes wrought in song-silver set into the stones of the roadway kindled at the sound. The streets themselves shone throughout the night, fading only with the pale light of dawn in the sky.

Summary
“What do you mean by this, Kinslayer? Why you, and why me? What do you want?”
Maedhros seemed pleased to be asked. “To ask your pardon and to grant you mine.”
Thingol stood up. “This will be a short interview then; I do not give it and I will not take it.”
Maedhros looked up at him with quiet attention, but wrath was building in Thingol’s voice. “How do you have the effrontery to stand before me and declare that you, the leader of the most infamous scourge to arise among the Eldar, the chief of the Noldor invaders, the one responsible for pulling down Morgoth’s wrath on all our heads, that you, murderer of your people and your family and yourself, have something to forgive me for?”

Summary
Achilles, the sun casting its last rays around his head like a halo, resplendent and aureate.
Achilles, the soles of his feet flashing pink as he sprints across the beach.
Achilles, slender fingers plucking the strings of his lyre, eyes green like fresh pressed olives. His cat's smile.
"Guess what I'm thinking about," he says.
The robin that flew over our heads but a minute past. The dream he had last night of a ship with purple sails, its prow slicing the waves of the Aegean sea. The wooden amulet that hangs about the augur's neck. This and this and this.
"I'll be the first hero to be happy," he would tell me years later. "You're the reason."
A collection of all the scenes we didn't get to see in The Song of Achilles. Follows the timeline of the book.
