"Huge," Mel says with a wide smile. "What about you?"
"Me, not really," Frank admits. "I watched a few seasons here and there," —one season, if he's honest— "and I auditioned just for fun," —he hadn't even known that Theo had sent in that stupid video— "and now here I am."
"Here you are," Mel echoes and Frank finds himself a little lost in the melody of her voice. It's lower than maybe he would expect, but the flow of it is an easy rhythm, a pleasing melody.
Entrancing.
"Here we are." Finds it necessary to add on, and the smile that blooms on Mel's face tells him he's said the right thing.
Fuck.

A moment later it buzzed again.
His lips quirked. He looked up at the clock on his wall. Half past five—on a Friday.
She was…undoubtably…pissed—already.
Maybe they’d broken things off. Maybe she wasn’t seeing McLaggen anymore.
He’d just check the lock screen. He wouldn’t open the messages.
He slid the mobile from his inner blazer pocket and hit the side button before he froze.
He had been right. Four unread texts—from a Miss Hermione Jean Granger—but he had been wrong about the contents.
She’d never sent him photos before.

Confronted with living in close quarters and having to adjust to a different dynamic, Buffy finds herself coming to terms with the changes Spike is attempting to make in himself. Meanwhile, Spike is struggling with those changes, but knows he can't stop loving her. All the while, there's still a Hell God out there, and they'd both die to protect Dawn.
Both Buffy and Spike know this won't end well, they just have no idea what that will look like.

Thanks to some research done by Anya, the escape in Spiral is to a different dimension, where hopefully they should be safe from Glory’s all-powerful grasp until the window for the apocalypse passes. But trying to get home will be another matter altogether, in a world where humans are slaves, vampires undergo peculiar transformations, and Cordelia Chase is the messiah. Reuniting with old friends doesn’t guarantee things will get any easier, especially if their enemies also team up to maintain the status quo. What does it mean to be The Key? How many regimes will Buffy overthrow? Is there no place like home?
