Summary
With each day Viktor can still feel his skin tightening, crawling with the need to be more than this, to get back to the chrome of his caustic city, to be in a proper lab, not just a garage which doubles as a farming implement repair shop. It's selfish, irrational, and unfair. He itches to be free from the hollow of Piltover’s closing hand. He feels horrible about it, because he loves Jayce and that should be a complete sentence.
The feeling stays. Viktor does too.Or: Viktor moves in to Jayce's charming rural hometown with the love of his life. It's perfect until it's not.

"I would like a do-over," Ilya says. "Of the last time you were here in Boston.”
Something twists painfully in Shane, like a toe ground through broken glass. He feels that kissing Ilya’s cheeks until they blush with the faintest dusting of peach is the only remedy. “But you weren’t the problem last time, in Boston,” he says, stomach sinking. “It was me walking out and being a weirdo, remember?”
“Yes.” Ilya shuffles on the other end. “And you are my weirdo. And we will go to see Boston sights together.”

Shane and Ilya aren't anything, per se. Shane has known this for many seasons. His subconscious perhaps thinks otherwise, unfettered in wanting the impossible from Rozanov.

Cait’s newcomer—coworker? Friend? Partner?—is radiant, to the point that Viktor is concerned about retina damage. His tanned cheeks are flushed from the cold. Slick black curls peek from beneath his beanie, his face composed of angular planes that Viktor wouldn’t mind exploring. A patterned sweater and slacks surface from his unbuttoned coat. Pure delight inhabits his face, strong eyebrows arching over his smiling eyes as he hugs Cait back, and Viktor wants—no, needs—something for Christmas for the first time in his life.
or: Jayce and Viktor meet at a department holiday party. Viktor suddenly understands the magic of the holiday season.
