The walls bleed black again, and Castiel is deposited back into the room he was snatched from in a far more undignified manner than he left it.

His face is hot when he pulls the beer away from his mouth, a rising sense of panic fluttering in his chest. He has thought these things, known them, of course, but it feels so different now because Dean will know. He is going to look at Castiel and know exactly how he feels, what he thinks. That is...distressing.
Perhaps Dean will avoid it. He is very good at doing those things. When faced with something he simply doesn't want to acknowledge, that's his first method of handling the situation, and Castiel is sure that it will go this way again. He is banking on it, in fact.
It will be fine. He has Jack. Sam will be here, a welcome presence and a perfect buffer.
It's all going to be fine.

“What the fuck is this?”
It’s pretty much Luke’s first full spoken-in-person-sentence to Calum in months.
It’s his first sentence to Calum in months, and he’s yelling it in the middle of his driveway at seven in the morning, while a dog yelps back at him from down the street. It’s perfect.
“I thought you said you wanted iced coffee,” Calum replies defensively, consciously diverting his eyes away from Luke’s face because it’s the only way he can be sure he’s not staring. He needs to act normal, but he can’t remember exactly what acting normal around Luke actually entails. Probably not constantly shifting his eyes around like he’s possessed. He forces his eyes back to Luke’s face before Luke goes off in search of a priest skilled in exorcisms.

Luke is a flight attendant who works for United Airlines. When Calum’s lucky, he’s a flight attendant on the flight Calum is on, to wherever his next hotel room turned conference room is located. He’s been lucky more often than not lately, because Luke has been on every flight that Calum has been on for the past eight weeks.

Every morning that week, Calum goes back to the bakery, collects his lemon bar, and sets up on the terrace with his laptop.
And every morning that week, he sees the tall guy with off duty model vibes, right around the same time, always carrying his iced coffee, always wearing a leather jacket. Since he’s all the way across the street, Calum doesn’t really get a good look at him beyond basic shapes, so the off duty model thing is based entirely on his build and the fact that he looks sort of effortlessly put together with his leather jacket and casual sneakers.
That’s probably why Calum waves like a maniac and blurts, “Hey buddy!” when he comes face to face with the guy when he’s in line for his lemon bar the following Monday morning.

“Fuck, dude, I forgot you were getting them today!” Calum says, just as the microwave beeps. Ashton grabs the popcorn, dumping it on the bowl as fast as he can so he can head back into the living room and see what his friends are talking about.
What was Michael getting today?
“Cal, I literally told you like fifty times.” Michael says just as Ashton grabs the bowl and exits the kitchen. “That’s why I’m late.”
Ashton snorts and starts talking before reaching the living room, before Michael comes into view. “You’re always late, Mike-”
He cuts himself off abruptly, his brain short circuiting the moment he sees Michael by the door. Because Michael is wearing glasses. A pair of black framed glasses that bring out his sharp edges, his jawline, his cheekbones, making him look more serious, grown up. And incredibly hot. Ashton finds it impossible to look away, probably why he ends up tripping over his rug, the same rug that’s been there since he and Luke moved into this apartment two years ago and that he should be used to by now, and then he’s toppling over, sending popcorn flying everywhere.

Summary
Ashton looks neither of those things as he toes off his shoes and removes his cardigan. The heat in his eyes is so potent Calum’s heart rate speeds up instantly, hands wet and not from his shower. And yet there’s a nervous streak to the way Ashton stands, guard down in a way that’s obviously uncomfortable, like he’s expecting Calum to go sit down on the bed and turn on the TV.
Truthfully, it’s what Calum should do. He’s been aching to talk to Ashton all day, and he knows what he needs to tell Ashton is that it was fun, it was fucking mindblowing, but it can’t happen again. To preserve their friendship so that there’s no chance it gets tainted by potentially ugly situations, but most importantly, to preserve his own heart.
