But Wally was gone, and Dick was in his bare office, desperately tearing through the first letters written with 'Dear Rob' in the messy writing Dick knew and loved.
Dick wiped at his tears. He didn’t need anyone coming to find him like this, especially after he insisted that he could handle cleaning out his and Wally’s old flat by himself. He looked over to the box of letters.
Wally had written him so, so many letters. The most recent one had been from a few days before he died, if the date on the envelope was to be believed, and the very first one had been from when they were kids. It had Wally’s loopy handwriting in smudged ink and on old paper.
Or: After Wally dies, Dick finds letters his husband had written.

Dick made a frustrated sound, “It’s not just this mission, Wally,” he said lowly, “You do this all the time. You always put yourself at risk! What if you died!? Or-Or got hurt to the point where you couldn’t be on the team anymore?”
“It won’t matter,” Wally said, his voice softer than it had been, “We all know I’m useless to the team, Dick. You guys can replace me easily.”
Dick stared at him for a long moment, not really believing his ears.
Or: After a mission gone wrong, Dick and Wally get into an argument. It escalates and feelings are revealed.

“How intoxicated were you?” Damian asked, incredulous.
“I can get you guys divorced quietly,” Tim offered. “Don’t have to worry about the press.”
Or: Dick and Wally get married. Too bad they didn't tell anyone they were even dating, now everyone thinks it was on accident.

“There is no way,” Jason said, “That this is Dickwing.”
The child in Bruce’s arms glared at him, a fierce expression for such a little itty-bitty thing. Another point in the “this random child with black hair and blue eyes is not Dick” column. Dick, from the stories Jason remembered getting out of Bruce and Alfred, hadn’t been this small.
“Jason,” Bruce replied, tone a bit harsh. He’s stressed. Jason’s supposed that was a point in the “Dick was turned into a literal child” column.
Or: after a run in with magic, Dick is left as a child. No one is having a fun time, who knew Dick liked to hide from everyone constantly?

“I missed you too.” He mumbled against Dick’s lips, and finally gave into the urge of digging his hand into his dark locks. It was as soft as it looked, and Wally experimentally played with the inky strands.
“I guess I won’t be going to get my hair cut tomorrow.” Dick said.
“God, please don’t.” Wally agreed, “I think I’m in love.”
Dick snorted and slapped his chest slightly, “Well, can you be in love on the couch? I got pizza.”
Or: 5 times Wally did Dick’s hair, 1 time he couldn’t, and 1 time he made up for it.
