Summary
Sherlock is back and all seems forgiven, but something is missing between him and John. Their friendship initially appears intact, but Sherlock doesn't understand why John seems to be slipping away. Finally, in terror, he tries to reconnect with John by taking him to the one place that seems to inspire any emotional interest in John any more: the Canadian wilderness. While there, Sherlock faces his greatest fear.

“Well, that was a thing,” Crowley said once they were out of earshot. Without talking about it, they were both heading down the field, towards the lake where the photographer (and likely a few more people from the TV crew) was waiting.
“That was a wedding,” Aziraphale replied, surprised at his own annoyance that somebody called a wedding a ‘thing’.
“Yeah, obviously, didn’t miss that part,” Crowley said with a shrug, and waved abruptly in Aziraphale’s general direction. “Neither did you, from the looks of it, since you’re dressed like a wedding bride and everything.”
“Excuse me, I am a—“ Aziraphale stopped himself, and started over.

This needs more people to read it. This writer is VERY good. Very visceral, writes with real immediacy. Does whump like no one. Really good descriptions of internal experiences, thought, despair, etc. JUST my favorite sort of fic, fully realized characters, mature adults, realism, grit, going to go find other works by this author now.
