Summary
Tim’s been watching Batman and Robin for a while, okay? He understands what crime is. But then Batman turns a guy over to the police for reasons Tim doesn’t understand at all. It’s not a crime to hit your kids so they know what they did wrong, right? So Tim asks Batman about it. And, well, to say it quickly goes sideways is an understatement, AKA, what will later be referred to as “that time Tim tried blackmailing Batman to not call Child Protective Services.”

Summary
It's not that Five is "obsessed with the apocalypse". He's not a junkie chasing an adrenaline high of danger. It's just that the public's shared hallucinogenic memory of a timeline that shouldn't exist is weird, and so are the cross-dimensional artifacts, and so are the fully formed human beings that keep falling into Five's lap. Figuratively.
"Okay, man, just think about it," Diego interjects, loudly, pointing at Five with the mouth of his bottle. "Remaking the world's gotta be a messy process. It's not that surprising that there's just some weird cracks, a few spots that Dad didn't get super well. It's not a big deal."
"Just some weird cracks, he says," Five says dryly. "'Some weird cracks', like the man squatting in my apartment. The man I found unconscious in an alleyway with no memories. Weird cracks like those?"
Said man grins and waves a hand cheerfully, his inhuman orange eyes glowing eerily in the bright morning light. When nobody waves back, he reaches his hand to awkwardly paw at the feathery hair at the nape of his neck. His smile goes from cheery to awkward, and he whines, "You act like it's my fault, or something!"

Summary
Since he can remember, the only sincere reprieve Dazai has ever received from the storm in his mind was books. Mori had been fond of all kinds of literature, stocking the shelves of his old home with volumes and volumes of escape mechanisms. Like a thing starved, Dazai devoured them, shutting out the rest of the world in his pursuit of peace.
Opening the shop had been natural, and he’d quickly accrued a slew of regulars who would listen to him wax poetic about his favorite novels. He’d had quite a few starry-eyed admirers lean across the counter, eyes intent on him as he spouted off flowery quote after fiery quote, yet no one had ever spiked Dazai’s interest enough for him to take their affections seriously.
Yet he’d grown all too fond of romances, of the comfort in the knowledge of a happy ending. No matter what, at the end of the story, the princess always found her prince, regardless of any bumps they hit along the way. No matter how rocky the start, no matter how dire the situation, love always pulled through.
“The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you.”
