“I can’t imagine what Miss Moonchanter could possibly want from me at this hour,” Nefer said, raising an eyebrow. “If it’s a commission, then I hope you brought some extra Mora. I charge a late night fee.”

“…But Vilemena had no right,” Lauma says, slipping the antlers away. “She had no right to do this. And I am left asking how she could have done so, with the full knowledge that it would hurt us all. She did… apologise, in the end,” she concedes. “Gave the Marionette’s location, which allowed us to retrieve the Moon Marrow. Yet, after all that…” Her voice cracks, helpless. “I still cannot find it in myself to forgive her. How can I tell my people to forgive her, to preach mercy and compassion when I struggle to do so?”
She faces Nefer, her expression a portrait of anguish, her words a plaintive plea. “How can I guide my flock, when I am lost myself?”
