    Katsuki brushes aside Izuku’s hands and tries not to worry over how they tremor even now at rest. Instead, he attempts to focus on the task at hand (which is difficult enough as it is with the way his knuckles brush Izuku’s bare stomach ever so lightly as he works his way up the shirt), hesitating when he gets to the few before the top.

    “You want it buttoned all the way?” Katsuki asks. 

    Izuku nods. “Yeah, same as always.”

    “It looks better with the top ones unbuttoned,” Katsuki challenges.

    “I’m not a delinquent, Kacchan,” Izuku counters. 

    Katsuki squares him with a deadpan stare, a raised eyebrow.

    Or: Katsuki knows there's something wrong with Izuku's hands, it's obvious. He just wishes Izuku would trust him enough to tell him. After lots of observation and a mishap with some ice, Izuku is finally forced to accept help.

    Wouldn’t it be ironic? To survive a war against the incarnation of evil only to freeze to death at the hands of a terrified woman who hadn’t even really intended to hurt him.

    Wouldn’t it be such a terrible thing, to die, and to not be able to fight it as he’d fought everything else that his life had tried to drop on him?

    To not be able to tell Kacchan how much he meant to him. How endlessly thankful Izuku is that after all these years, they’ve managed to fix things. That they finally finally finally understand each other. That Izuku doesn’t have to hide from Kacchan and Kacchan doesn’t have to hide from Izuku. That they’re everything that Izuku has ever wanted them to be-

    And that’s where Izuku he’s been lying to himself. He’s too selfish to let this be everything that he wants. He’s too selfish not to want more. And really, how is he supposed to be anything but selfish when it comes to Kacchan? When his personal symbol of all things beautiful and heroic and good finally feels human and attainable and sees him?

    How can Izuku not be in love with Katsuki Bakugo?

    Katsuki abandons a boring, awful blind date with a boring, awful, man to rescue Izuku, who calls him in the middle of dinner, sobbing his eyes out. He doesn't feel a lick of guilt about it, either–when Yaoyorozu asked him what his type was so that she could set him up, he said he didn't know, because that was true. When had he ever had time to think about his type when he was trying to become the number one hero?

    But when he flies off in a panic to find Izuku, who is stress-crying and stuck on a rooftop, he's forced to wonder: what is his type? Someone strong and brave and kind. Someone goofy, who laughs at his own jokes while they're on their way to eat boring, awful convenience store food, someone who makes it fun, anyway, like a date should be.

    Someone like…

    Oh no.

    He's never speaking to Yaoyorozu again.
