Mike had never been coordinated, often being compared to Bambi when he runs, which frankly is offensive; Mike isn’t even that clumsy. Unfortunately for Mike hes so caught up thinking about how he isn’t clumsy, he doesn’t realize that he has missed a step, which sends him headfirst down three flights of stairs.
Or Mike hits his head so hard he gets amnesia, which makes him forget some things but also makes him remember things that aren't real, such as Will Byers being his Boyfriend.
(Bad summary, I promise the actual fic is better.)

Mike Wheeler is utterly terrified of water. This is a problem because A, the town he lives in is a seaside village, two, he lives on a boat in said village, and D, boats live on water. Unfortunately for him, his mother thinks that the summer of 1987 is the perfect opportunity for Mike to both conquer his aquaphobia and get a job to keep himself busy.
Mike is placed as an intern at the local aquarium in hopes that he’ll cure his fear of water and hopefully scrape some cash along with it, but what happens when late one night, a monster from the ocean falls into the empty killer whale enclosure? A monster who’s hurt, afraid, and in need of help that seemingly only Mike can provide?
