And maybe it isn’t the Autobot thing to say, maybe it isn’t the loyal, good-soldier thing to say, but, with the war over, Rodimus simply can’t escape it anymore:

As Optimus walked, he heard a rustle behind himself and paused. He turned around to see the seeker shrink back behind a tree. His wings stuck out on either side.
Optimus frowned. “What… are you doing?”
The seeker peeped out at him.
“Um, following you,” he mumbled, his wings twitching.After an accident during a skirmish with the seekers, Optimus finds himself stranded in the middle of nowhere with no way of communicating his comrades. Luckily, he has a companion.
Unluckily, it's the impertinent teleporter.

Summary
Optimus Prime, by the grace of Primus, King of the Autobots and bearer of the Matrix, has been at war with the realm of the Decepticons for eons. The war still rages, even though Optimus holds the enemy king, Megatron, as his captive... a captive he's fallen in love with.
Now, however, Megatron's consort, Starscream, is on Optimus's doorstep. Not to try and reclaim his captured husband, but with an offer Optimus may not be able to refuse: End the war and unite the kingdoms, by dissolving Megatron and Starscream's marriage and instead marrying Starscream off to one of Optimus's three sons - bluff war hero Springer, scheming Getaway, or pampered princeling Hot Rod.
End the war, unite the kingdoms... and free Megatron to properly be with Optimus.
But in this high-stakes diplomatic chess game, nothing is truly that easy. Which son does Optimus choose, knowing that whoever takes Starscream's hand also takes the Autobot throne? Can Optimus outwit his own consort, Prowl, whose secret agendas have secret agendas? And can any of them know what Starscream is really planning?
A Lion in Winter (or just English medieval history) AU, but doesn't require knowledge of either to enjoy. :)
