He says it just to test the way the words feel in his mouth, to see if there’s any weight or truth to them. How miserable that his own heart nods along quickly as if in agreement.
"Say something," he urges gravely. "Tell me you love me, even if you must lie. You owe me at least this much, Dazai."
Fyodor receives no response, but it no longer surprises him. It hasn't for a while now.
The only thing Fyodor wants more than killing Dazai is to hear the sound of his voice, just one last time.

Summary
Dazai threatens to kill himself with the same kind of regularity most people direct towards a morning cup of coffee. It’s a nuisance, really.
Fyodor hides the knives. Rope. Pills. Pill bottles. He has to be thorough, lest Dazai makes nooses out of electrical cords or attempts to electrocute himself with the outlets. Anything can be a weapon in the eyes of a man who craves for death, after all.
