Summary
The polaroid was old and crumpled and starting to fade from sun exposure. She’d used her thumb to make a heart in one corner, but it had long since faded from pretty bright red to muddy red-brown. Himiko rarely took it out of her skirt pocket for longer than a handful of seconds before she’d shove it away from prying eyes and hands.
Two children, the younger one barely old enough to hold himself up on chubby, wobbly legs. The older child, a little girl, had a wide, fang-toothed smile. Her arms were wrapped around her brother’s shoulders, pressing their cheeks together.
Two months later, she wouldn’t be allowed to touch him.

Summary
In the wake of Bruce’s return from the timestream, Tim Drake struggles to find his place. Despite the sacrifices Tim made and the losses he faced for them, it seems his family has moved on without him. It’s not hard to jump to the conclusion that he is no longer needed or wanted, and Red Robin suddenly is not bothered by the blows he takes and the bones he breaks.
It’s Dick Grayson who notices and faces the consequences of what he and the rest of the family has failed to do for Tim Drake. He just hopes it’s not too late to make amends.
_______________________Dick clasps the kid’s forearm before he can move to grab his shoes again and spins Tim back around, “Talk to me. Please.”
Tim shakes his arm loose of Dick’s hold, irritation pulling at his brows as he opens his mouth to tell his brother off, but to both of their dismay, Tim can’t seem to push any words out. He clamps his teeth around the beginning of a word, then takes an aborted step back. In a flash, his face morphs into one of anguish.
“I think—“ Tim chokes,“I think I’m trying to die.”
Admitting it is the catalyst that cracks Tim’s resolve.

“Epilepsy.” Tim breathed. He was already shaking his head. “But I feel fine.”
“You’re fine now,” Bruce said, his hand on Tim’s knee. “Because of the medications that you have been put on. They are helping to regulate your body, keeping inappropriate electrical impulses at a minimum.”
“Inappropriate electrical impulses.” Tim said. “Really Bruce, I’m not a child.”
“A normal child wouldn’t have understood what I just said.” Bruce countered.
Tim blinked. Then, again.
“I would have.” Tim finally said.
__________________Timothy Jackson Drake is many things.
He's brilliant, he's brave, he's Red Robin. Some might say he's a little shit, but that was neither here nor there. Well, actually, yeah, he's a little shit but whatever.
What Tim can't be is broken.
He can't possibly bring shame to the Drake name and the Wayne family. He can't possibly have epilepsy, because he is meant to be better than that, he needs to be better than that.
