Summary
Regulus has always known he's destined to drown. He feels it deep in his chest, past his rib cage, nestled somewhere behind his organs. He feels it in his arm when his mother squeezes it a little harder than a mother should. He felt it, the water rising in his throat, when his brother slipped out the window and into the night. He often wonders if it'd be easier to just let himself sink.
He often wonders if he has a choice.
Regulus gets sent back to school with a mission from the Dark Lord himself— find the “beast in the chamber” and claim its fangs without killing it. But when a certain curly-haired bespectacled boy asks for a rather large favor, everything suddenly gets a lot more complicated.

She looks down at him coldly. Her face is inches from his, their noses almost touching. He can feel her breath on his lips. He need only lift his head to capture her lips in a kiss. The fever in his blood wants him to desperately, his body aching for her touch.
I’m taking what’s mine,” she tells him sweetly. He blinks, uncomprehending, and her lips twist in a sneer. “You’re my husband, aren’t you?” she demands. “I might as well get some use out of you. You’re no good for anything else.”
Original Ye Xiwu took delight in making Tantai Jin suffer, taking out all her rage and frustration on him. She hated that she was forced to marry him after having (she thinks) lost her virginity to him. So what if she decided to take out another kind of frustration on him? He may be her unwanted husband, but a husband is useful for at least one thing, after all. And if she gets to make him suffer even more in the process, so much the better...
