“…but I really am Superman, and I want you to know that whatever happens I will do my best to protect you.”
“Since your powers are being hindered it seems to me that I’ll be the one protecting you.”
“Right,” Clark sighed, not bothering to argue.

In some weird twisted sort of way Bruce figures, he should be pleased. He had crafted the Brucie persona so that no one would ever suspect him of being Batman. And clearly it worked since Clark flat out refused to believe it.
Sadly, the effectiveness of his cover identity was now costing him his closest friendship. Oh, the irony.
