When Soobin plays it back, the memory lengthens until he’s able to decode every passing emotion on Yeonjun’s face. He’s unreliable, seeing things he wants to see, but he swears there’s just something there that looks achingly similar to how he feels.

Summary
Jeno’s thoughts go back to Jaemin, wandering around this place looking for some guy. He thinks about how the first time they met, Jeno was below him, forced to look up. Thinks that that makes sense for who he is in this scenario, stuck at a booth while others are doing something he has no clue about. Stuck with the impulse to search for Jaemin, even now.

Yeonjun shrugs. “You look like you have an opinion about that.”
Soobin laughs to himself, both surprised by Yeonjun’s bluntness and amused. It’s clear he’s under the other’s skin, like a piece of splintering wood. Does it itch? Does it sting? Does Yeonjun just have to know what he’s thinking?
Yeonjun waits with this look that has no translation, just something visceral. And Soobin finds he likes it. He likes the way that leather stretches over his chest. He likes the idea of Yeonjun obsessing over an offhand comment from Soobin. But most of all, he likes that he was right.
Soobin shakes his head, a simple smile on his lips.
“I don’t have an opinion.”

Soobin and Yeonjun attend the same law school, but that is about all they have in common. Probably.

If healing is 75% mind power, then the bone-deep sense of peace Jaemin feels after falling asleep midway through a phone call with Jeno is what cures him. His brain says I need to see Lee Jeno again and his body bends over backwards to comply.

Summary
The truth is that Jaemin didn’t have to steal Christmas for his heart to grow three sizes too big, it’s always hung low and heavy in his ribcage, spilling out of bone, and Jeno doesn’t know how to reconfigure his basic biology to keep up. Doesn’t know how to take this heart that is a normal size and does normal things like keep him alive and make it enough when he wants it to do so much more.
