“I guess I just wanted to say thank you,” Joseph sighed. Caesar swallowed tightly at his words. What was he thankful for? It wasn't like he treated the Joestar nicely. He was rather harsh with him. And again, Joseph seemed to read his mind. “You ate with me. I know that means a lot to you. And it means a lot to me too.”

“I need to ask you a favor.” There was a regretful note to Chris’s words, no doubt because Leon had literally come back from debrief and crashed six hours earlier. “How fast can you get back to the DSO?”
“Twenty minutes if I pretend traffic laws don’t exist.” Leon was up and moving, putting the call on speaker and dropping the phone on his bed. Shaving would have to wait, but he needed to get dressed in something more than boxer-briefs and an old STRATCOM shirt. His go-bag was still by the door, so he only had to grab a few things… “You clear this with the brass?”
“Talked to Director Savage myself. Have to say, he’s a lot more personable than Simmons.” Chris with the understatement of the year, surrounded by humor that faded quickly. “Listen, the chopper that’s picking you up will have Piers on it–he’ll explain everything. Or, well, what we know so far. But the short version is, I need you to play bodyguard for a while. Could be a few days, or it might be longer than that. I’ll update you as soon as I can.”
Bodyguard, huh? That had the potential to be easier than his last mission was, or a whole fuck of a lot harder.
