“Leonie Pinelli…” The red-haired receptionist checked her list. “Yeah, you’re on here. The doctor will be ready soon, feel free to take a seat… wherever I guess.”
Leonie looked around the small room in the depths of Abyss. The only chair was the one the receptionist was sitting on, leant against the wall, legs resting on a stone that could pass as a table. The lab coat she was wearing almost made her seem professional - apart from the fact she was wearing it half-open with very little underneath. She was also reading a book, with a very raunchy cover.
“She’s not actually a doctor.” The receptionist added, in case there was any remaining semblance that this was official. “She just likes doing experiments. Hope you know what you’re getting into, Tiger.”

“Alright, detective,” Kim says, as you pull up to a stop, with the voice of a man who has been waiting for an interruption. “What is it now?”
You blink, realizing your eyes have gone a little dry. It’s not a rare occurrence. “Your jacket is orange,” you say, looking away from the sleeve back up to his face. Eyes on the road.
“My jacket is orange,” he confirms.
You go quiet again, and Kim doesn’t react to this except with a split-second glance over at you, paired with the slightest twinge of amusement at the corner of his mouth. He knows you’re chasing a hunch, turning a thought over and over in your mind until its edges wear smooth. He thinks this is probably one of the frivolous ones, and he’s probably right.

Summary
It's such a quick thing, what the boy does. Rising up just enough to plant a soft kiss to the rise of Patroclus's cheek before he's all the way to his feet and disappearing into the next room.
Flames lick in the footsteps that the boy leaves behind, but it's Patroclus who stays where he's been left with his heart hammering in his chest like a drum. He'd never considered Elysium to be anything other than mildly temperate, but with that one kiss, it's like all the days before today were frigid. He feels awake for the first time since his death, with the longing pull of the Lethe loosening its fingers from about his soul to allow him to chase the afterimage of the boy's presence with all his attention.
Not a warrior fighting his way through Elysium as Patroclus originally assumed, but someone different — someone interesting.
