“It’s Lucifer now. Well, it has been for like ten thousand years– You know, the King of Hell, the Devil, the first fallen angel– yada yada…” He trailed off, grinning slightly, “It’s been common knowledge for a while now, or is it more difficult to remember things in your old age?” Lucifer joked, ignoring the fact that they were, in fact, the same age.
They stood in awkward silence for a while, probably just a few seconds but it felt like eons. Shit, Lucifer was supposed to be on his best behaviour, what if this was about the hotel– he might have just fucked Charlie’s chances.
“So…” Lucifer said awkwardly, breaking the silence when it had gone on too long, “Why am I here?”

He beckoned them forward, spreading his arms out, “Welcome, welcome, welcome. Do come in. Mind the welcome mat— It bites!” Lucifer called as they trailed single file through the large doors.

“I do have one question, though,” Lance says as he takes a step further into Keith’s personal space. “How old are you?”
Keith arches an eyebrow that disappears under his hair. “You’d not ask a lady for her age; the same rules apply to vampires.”
“Surely not. I have to know what I’m getting myself into. How will I keep up with you if you reference personal tales from the 1500s?”
“What you’re getting yourself into?” A flicker of a smile appears on Keith’s face. They’ve continued to walk again, but this time it is Keith who plays with Lance’s hand, hooking their pinkies together.

“Careful, these patches are everywhere.” Keith glares at the ground.
Lance’s heart is hammering, mouth clammy as his fingers try not to tremble at the soft touch. Keith’s arm around him makes him feel safe and warm. Lance doesn’t try to say anything, hopes the cold hides his blushing cheeks as he leans a bit into Keith’s side.
Lance can only utter a quiet, “Thank you.”
“Here,” Keith says, “Take my arm.”

Summary
Accompanied by the scattered applause throughout the ballroom, Keith lifts a slim brown hand in his own and presses a lingering kiss to the palm.
"It’s good to see you, Lance,” he says.
His voice is raw; his face feels naked. Keith’s known for his poker face, but here, in front of Lance, he has no self control. His emotions are spilling over onto his face like tears, too strong to be constrained.
He looks into Lance’s eyes and that suddenly doesn’t seem like such a bad thing.
“Yeah,” Lance whispers, a gentle and devastating smile on his face. He reaches a hand up — soft, Keith notes — and tucks some hair behind Keith’s ear. His fingers trace a gentle path across Keith’s jaw; his eyes flick across his face but inevitably come back to meet Keith’s own, the blue in them impossibly seeming warm toned with the full fond force of Lance’s gaze.
“It’s good to see you, too,” Lance says.
Has Keith mentioned yet that he loves him?
