Summary
Between his absent and abusive parents, torture dealt out by the Russians, the guilt of Barb’s death, nightmares of Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer and the Upside-Down, and the constant pressure of striving to be enough and yet always failing… Steve Harrington is falling apart.
He has Robin, Dustin, and Max, and he sort of has Nancy, but as the days go by, Steve feels more and more disconnected from reality. His headaches are getting worse, he gets nosebleeds at least once every other day, and he’s tormented by nightmares.
Then he sees a grandfather clock in the middle of the video store.
OR
A (short) reimagining of season four volume one scenes that explore Steve’s background and actually deals with the consequences of his traumatic experiences ever since the gate first opened, because there is so much potential there just being WASTED.
OR
After Chrissy and Fred, Steve is Vecna’s next target.

Summary
Steve already lost Max to Vecna. He is not going to lose Dustin.
(A role-reversal of sorts of the stairwell scene)

Summary
The first time Dustin ever yelled at Steve to run, it was in the junkyard and Steve was surrounded by demodogs.
(Eddie didn’t run, and now he’s dead.)
Four years later in the Upside Down, Steve is luring the demogorgon away to protect the others; once again, Dustin's screaming at him to run.

Summary
“Nancy, something's wrong.” She said again, not having turned around, or even moved at all. She had both hands on Steve’s shoulder, shaking him, though her hands shook more. “Nancy something’s– he’s–”
“Steve?” Dustin about shoved past them both, the way he shook the man far more aggressive than Max’s, though still he showed no reaction to it, body stiff and eyes rolled back till it was almost all white showing. “Steve? Steve come on this isn’t– this isn’t funny! Steve!”
