Summary
There’s a sudden cacophony of yells. As Shane turns to find the source of the noise, the only thing he can see is red splattered across the ice and a #81 jersey.
For an absurd moment, all he can think is “my parents are at this game. Hayden and Jackie are in the stands. Thank god the kids aren’t here.”
He doesn’t remember moving, but the next thing he knows, he’s kneeling in a pool of blood with his hands on Ilya’s neck, certain that he was about to die.

Summary
On the screen, it was the playoff game between Boston and Metros. Everything looked normal, except for one thing. It was that game.
It was the game when Shane’s body collided with Cliff Marlow. The replay of the impact echoed through the speakers, too loud in the quiet cottage. The next footage came in slow motion.
OR - their kids stumble upon the clip of the game when Shane got injured. It's the first time Ilya sees the footage.
Shane helps Ilya work through the emotions.

Summary
In 1997, a team of researchers led by husband and wife psychologists published a paper about a series of experiments where strangers asked each other sets of questions designed to foster intimacy. The study examined whether the intimacy between two strangers can be accelerated by answering a specific set of 36 personal questions, each intended to become increasingly probing, stimulating closeness, intimacy and ultimately love. 18 years later, a journalist cited the study in a widely shared article in the New York Times called "To Fall in Love With Anyone, Do This."
OR
Shane Hollander sees an experiment about love and decides to test it out on the one person he knows he can’t fall in love with, and yet…

Summary
"Question for Ilya first but it'll be the same for Shane. Boston is an original six legendary team that has struggled to get to the playoffs for the past three seasons. How much pressure do you feel from the fans, and from the hockey world in general, to restore Boston to its former glory, and how much of that do you take on personally?"
What? Fucking what?
Ilya Rozanov has been in the States for years and mostly, he's good. He knows English, he understands English. But some days are easier than others and some days are harder than others.
Luckily, he's never had that issue with Shane.

Summary
Shane rests his head on Ilya’s shoulder. “Is it the medication, you think?”
Ilya hates the question, but he nods anyway. “Probably, yes. I was not like this before.”

Or: Ilya Rozanov used to know exactly what he wanted and how to get it. Now, after months of being on antidepressants, desire feels like a stranger to him, and not even Shane Hollander is able to bring it back.
