"Did you know...in astronaut training, you have to be able to survive in subzero temperatures?" Kaito asks.
Is there anything astronauts don't have to train for? Shuichi wonders, shaking his head. Kaito's really something...
Then Kaito grins suddenly and punches a fist into his open hand, which is Shuichi's first indication that things are about to go off the rails.
"So if it's a competition to see who can hold out the longest, I won't lose!" Kaito declares, grinning sideways down at Shuichi. "The loser has to say how many girls he's had a crush on!"

Shuichi takes Kaito up on an ill-advised dare.

They'd promised Sonic they'd leave him alone. He'd trusted them to keep their word. He'd let his guard down. Gah, how could he be so stupid?
Now that Sonic's back safely in Green Hill, Nine expects the others to abandon him in the Grim. After all, they'd promised to leave him alone. Even making connections with the other two foxes doesn't push away the assumption of of a future of eternal isolation. Until the others threaten to break their promise. Just... not in the way Nine would've expected.
