Jessica snorts. “More like a weirdo with a leather fetish and a martyr complex.”
“Yes,” Matt agrees, “I am catholic.”

Pepper huffed, taking the scissors victoriously. “‘Course I did.”
She cut the cord.

“Hey, James,” he says, which is stupid. He’s never called Rhodey James in his life. Giving him a nickname had been the first thing he’d done, the very first he’s said to him. ("God, your name is so boring that it sounds fake. How bout Rhodey?") He’d named Rhodey like he’d named DUM-E, and like the lines and lines and lines of code waiting in his computer, unfinished but already named JARVIS. He’d met Rhodey and declared to everyone: Stark Property. But it felt stupid now, crouching in his bathroom with his head spinning. Rhodey was too nice to be Stark anything.

“I prefer Mia,” she tells him, stretching her arm to offer her hand.
He shakes it. “Mia,” he agrees. “Please don’t call me Edwin.”
She smirks.
