Ron’s gaze softened, and he reached out and put a hand on hers, the webbing between his fingers catching the light as he did so. “Then why do you sound so sad?”

“It’s my fault,” Hermione admitted. “I stupidly touched that marble without knowing what it was and now… I think we’re in some sort of memory.” Given the clues, it was the best she could come up with.
“Brilliant.” Ron was still looking around, his earlier panic gone and now replaced with awe.
“Not brilliant,” she snapped. “Dangerous. It appears to be a very old memory. The longer a memory sits, the more unstable it is. There's a possibility it could collapse in on itself, and if that happens while we’re in here, it could trap us indefinitely.”
