Shortly after opening the app, a new message rolled in. Much to his disappointment, the profile had no name, no profile photo, and the bio read simply: ‘28. Top. Can host.’
The fact that the user was within walking distance was a plus, though.
Apollo considered this for a moment. This person had messaged first, so they probably knew what they were getting into when hooking up with a trans man. They weren’t terribly far away, were within his preferred age range, and could host. It was almost too good to believe, so with a sagely nod, he let himself open the message.

Summary
Apollo doesn’t have many people to talk with about his boy troubles (see: his conflicted feelings turned massive crush on Klavier) without getting made fun of, so he visits an online forum to seek some advice anonymously. A certain ex-con prosecutor stumbles upon the post, figures out who’s behind it quickly, and decides for his own personal entertainment and advantage in a bet against Athena to get Klavier and Apollo to stop dancing around each other. Not because they’re actually friends or anything. No, no.
That would be ridiculous.

A month has passed since Apollo's best friend was murdered, and the girl of his dreams (sometimes even the ones that aren't the result of eating cheese before bed) was almost framed for it; now, his life is just starting to settle back into something vaguely resembling normality. But while he hasn't finished processing everything that's happened, his landlord has had a much easier time moving on, having hiked up the rent to a rate Apollo would've struggled to afford even when Clay was still living with him.
His problems go from bad to worse when, after misunderstanding a suggestion from Athena, he finds himself accidentally offering Clay's old room to one of the last people he would ever have chosen to live with: Prosecutor Blackquill, a man who already had a history of threatening to stab Apollo before finding out about his 5AM vocal training sessions or his burgeoning romance with Athena. The next few months will have a profound impact on the ways Apollo handles his work-life balance, his dysphoria, and his apprehension about opening up to other people; in the meantime, he's just hoping to make it to the end of the week with all of his limbs attached. Wish him luck, because he knows he's going to need it.
