Summary
It was good, overall, that no one had ever managed to break Buck of his impulsive, hothead ways completely. Bucking the lead, Bobby thinks fondly. It’s the thing that’ll save all of their lives again before the end finally comes, he's sure of it, and one day it'll make Buck the best kind of captain, the kind his team will follow to hell and back.
But it must be said that Buck’s learned the value of listening, too, over the years. The deeper rewards that discipline can bring, and that can only come from surrendering. Letting yourself turn towards the guidance of a steady hand, instead of flinching away.
Bobby sighs, rolling his neck from side to side. The only light is a soft warm glow from the lamps on either side of the bed, the ones he and Athena had picked out together at IKEA, five weeks and a dozen lifetimes ago. His eyes meander over the chiaroscuro of Buck's bicep, and his wife's shapely calf hanging over it, and Tommy's big hands, holding Buck firmly by the hips, so that his thrusts stay exactly the same length every time: slow and deep, exactly what Athena needed in order to really let go.

Summary
“Fuck you,” Marleau says, through breathing, wheezing laughter. “I didn’t almost die—”
The flat of Shane’s tongue presses, hard, against the head of Ilya’s cock. Ilya narrows his eyes. Oh, I see, he thinks flatly. To the extent that there had been anything to forgive, Ilya is fairly certain that Shane had immediately forgiven his little stunt during the call with Pike. He had neglected to remember, however, that Shane’s mind tended to plan on a scale of weeks, months, or years, and that forgiven did not necessarily mean forgotten.
Shane gets payback for the phone call with Hayden.

Summary
Shane heads straight to his stall, starts tugging his jersey over his head, and without any preamble, turns to Ostrovsky and says, “Rook, what was the one thing I told you not to do tonight?”
Guiltily, Ostrovsky lisps, “Get into shit with Rozanov and Marleau.”
Shane sighs, all put-upon weariness. “And what was the literal first thing you did?”

Summary
It’s Hollander’s work. Ilya knows it with one glance. The structure is too orderly, laid out neatly according to plan. There are redundancy loops and opposing threads twisted together for stability. It’s precise, complex, beautiful to witness. It will be a fucking nightmare for Ilya to pick apart.
This is why the time war has lasted so long; why it feels unending. Every action Ilya takes will be countered by a Voyageur. Every one of their moves will be undone in turn.

Summary
“So,” Ilya says at last. “Why do you hire a professional Dominant?”
Shane is grateful for Ilya’s timing. If he’d been drinking just then, he probably would have choked and spat tea all over the pavement.
“I don’t know. I liked the idea, I guess.” He swallows and risks a quick sideways look at Ilya. “Why do people usually hire you?”

Summary
Shane lowers his voice. “I didn’t think you were serious about that.”
“Yes, you did.” Rozanov has a way of talking that makes it feel like he has more teeth than a normal person. How a shark has two rows so that a second always snags you, scrapes off the perfect amount to swallow you whole just when you think you’ve survived the first. “When am I not serious about you, Hollander?”
