The hand is intact too. There is a small brownish mole on his wrist, so similar to Lestat's—but no, it must be ash that accidentally fell on that exact spot. His fist is clenched, curled up on itself. It is a typical sign of suffering, one that Louis has learned to recognize in the hands of all his victims. He can see a ring on his ring finger. It is a beautiful gold wedding band, adorned with two emeralds at each end. It is the same as Lestat's.
OR
Lestat dies during Mardi Gras, his body burning before Louis has the sense to pull him from the flames.
Sooner or later, while wandering around Europe, he becomes obsessed with the concept of resurrection. -

“Come on, keep going. Don't pretend this whole little show wasn't just for me,” he taunts him, so close that he can smell his blood boiling in his veins.
“Oh, of course—how could I forget? Louis De Pointe Du Lac: the center of my world.”
A degrading laugh spreads like fuel from Lestat's chest to the floor of that stage, and Louis, who is always the detonator, catches fire with it.

“Lestat? Are you all right, buddy? Can you hear me?”
Lestat does not respond, does not move, does not breathe. The echo of his heart, though present, seems more distant than it has ever been.
It is terrifying, deplorable, sickening in a way that brings blood and bile to Louis's mouth. Lestat sits motionless in that armchair, his hands clenched on the armrests. His lips are wide open, glistening with saliva that he makes no effort to swallow. His eyes are open.
That's the worst part. He wants to turn away, he wants not to look at them, he wants to avoid seeing them altogether, yet he forces himself to take a step forward.
“Les, baby?” he whispers uncertainly, as the sour taste he holds under his tongue plagues his every thought.
That look is so different from what he knows, from what he loves, from what he remembers. It is dark, dark as if the pupil had enlarged to eat away everything. It is distant, absent, motionless.OR
Lestat falls into a deep dissociative state as he tells Daniel about his making. Louis doesn't know how to bring him back.

It's Claudia's voice, high-pitched and playful, just as he always expected it to be.
“Name?” he hears her whisper, while his eyes fill with tears.
“Oh, that young thing? Her name is Daisy, didn’t I tell you?”
The little girl wrinkles her nose, seemingly displeased with the answer, even though a funny laugh rises from her lips. She brings a little hand to Lestat's chest, who is still bent over in front of her. It is the same little hand that holds Toby.
“Name,” she asks again, almost demanding, as she pushes it against him.
It is the first time Claudia has ever demanded anything.
OR
Claudia's adoption is a tumultuous process. Louis struggles to make her feel comfortable in her new life and to overcome her selective mutism. Daniel suggests that they try some pet therapy.

Summary
“If Louis needs someone to suck his cock, we'll be happy to call you back, but in the meantime you can go,” he says bitterly, and the release of inertia hurts him more than it does his target.
Louis stands up, burning and consumed before his eyes as he tries to find something to say, and Lestat enjoys immensely being the flame of that fire.
Francois interrupts him before he can speak, the miserable sound of his laughter a pitiful steam in the face of that disaster. “Why should you call me, then? Isn't that all you're good at, Lestat?”
And it is as cruel as it is true.OR

Lestat is sitting on the floor with his eyes closed, a soft tune coming faintly from the headphones resting over his ears, surrounded by bunched-up blankets and pillows.
Louis closes his eyes, letting out a deep sigh.
Lestat has never liked being an omega. He has always loathed the havoc it could wreak on his body, the stereotypes, the practical aspects of it. If he's nesting, well… things have started to get bad.

Louis and Lestat haven't seen each other in almost a year, thanks to the publication of Daniel Molloy's bestseller "Interview With the Vampire". Lestat's impending biological needs may force them together again sooner than expected.

Lestat reeled back. A laugh escaped before he could stop himself.
“Incroyable. You arrive late, do not even try to be polite, and here I was, trying to salvage this mess, and you’re being a jerk for no reason!”

Summary
Lestat de Lioncourt, despite outward appearances, knew he had his faults. Whilst he was undeniably handsome , exceedingly charming and eternally captivating - he was also emotionally volatile and uncaring to the plights of others, traits not favoured in the act of raising a child.
So, when his beloved Louis returns home, a burnt char of a girl cradled in his arms , exclaiming about this being their new daughter Lestat is not amused. In fact, he feels an emotion akin to panic.
What if instead of Lestat turning Claudia , Louis did and Lestat reacted differently than in canon ?
