Jim Kirk is only 1/2 human: Winona is Veenana, a race of Empaths that could have other mental powers as well. Jim's not only an Empath he's a Telekinetic. Because of things that have happened there are people in Starfleet that either don't want him or would like to use him. Others are planning a take over from within. Jim and Spock stand in the way of those plans.
