Summary
“Sure, sure, you are but a humble sorcerer,” Mike teased and Will laughed, hand over his mouth, as they made their way down the hall to Will's dorm.
“You caught me,” Will grinned.
“So that's really it huh? You cast strength or something to lift that vending machine?”
Will rolled his eyes. “It’s not like I think about being able to do stuff like that. I’m not trying to show off or anything.”
“I mean, maybe you could,” Mike said. “Tonight, with Carlton, I mean,” he added grimly.
“I don’t know,” Will said quietly, popping the tab on his soda and taking a sip.
“It was impressive!” Mike assured him. “I mean, you’re strong. You’ve got, um-”
Mike swallowed nervously, motioning towards Will’s upper body, his broad shoulders, his thoroughly defined triceps, his-
“Arms.” Mike felt weak.
Will looked flustered. “You’ve got arms too, Mike.” he joked.
Mike couldn't be normal could he? His offer from earlier tormented him now:
'Why don’t you just kiss me then?' Mike had asked an hour ago, in response to Will's lack of experience. 'I mean, I’m here.'

Summary
Eighteen months later, Mike sat on Will’s bed, staring at his best friend’s graduation gown.
“It’s just so… orange,” Will made a face at the fabric in his hands. “I mean, does that make sense to you at all? Orange?”
Mike shrugged, grabbing the matching cap and placing it on Will’s head with a grin. Will’s hair went flat over his eyes. “I dunno, graduate,” Mike teased, flicking the tassel.
Will stuck out his tongue. “I still wish they'd stuck with green, like Jonathan and Nancy got. At least I'd look okay in green.” His voice had a whine to it, and Mike held back a snicker.
“I’m sure you look just as good in orange,” Mike said seriously.
Will shook his head, turning away. "Right."
Mike’s eyes lingered on the curve of Will's cheek, the flutter of his lash, the place where his t-shirt had been left untucked from his cuffed blue jeans. He was fascinated by the way Will rested his weight on one leg, his left foot hooked behind his right ankle. His stupid yellow socks.
Mike's stomach plummeted.

Summary
“His eyes might as well be on his forehead.” Holly muttered.
“Hm?” Will stifled a laugh.
“He’s an id- I mean, Mike's not very good at, um, seeing obvious stuff, Will,” Holly whispered loudly, clearly censoring herself for Will’s sake. “Don’t tell me you’ve never noticed.”
Will very much had. “Don’t tell him this, but you’re absolutely right.” Will admitted, matching her whisper.
Holly looked gleeful. “I won’t say a thing. Promise.”
“Good. You'd better not. He’d probably kick me out or something,” Will added dramatically.
“I wouldn’t let him,” Holly said. “Having you here is like having a second brother! It’s cool.”
Will’s heart actually melted a little. “Thanks, Holly.”
“And you actually like the stuff I like.”
“Mike likes art too!” Will tried.
Holly rolled her eyes again. “No. Mike likes YOUR art.”

Summary
“And I just thought- y’know, since you finally had a crush, maybe you’d want to talk about it?” Mike bullshitted.
Will scrubbed a hand across his forehead. “Right. Um. He’s great, I mean, incredible, actually. He understands stuff, like nobody else does. He’s the only person who’s ever made me feel truly okay in my skin and I-” he cut himself off.
Mike’s heart almost stopped beating. Maybe he wasn’t totally crazy.
“Anyways. Focusing on him, when it’s hopeless- it’ll just make me feel like shit. I mean, after everything, it’s just me, y’know?” Will said softly. “Just me.”
“Yeah, but it doesn’t have to be.” Mike said. “Why should you be alone? Just because you’re…" he took a deep, shaky breath. “...gay?” The word took effort to say, and it felt like he’d run a marathon once it’d left his mouth, his chest burning.
Will stared and stared. “I…” his gaze flickered to the ground. “Because. He’s the only person I’ve ever…” he squeezed his eyes shut. “Been in love with.”
Mike blinked. Will was in love? With this boy who could maybe, possibly, probably be Mike?

Summary
"Maybe it was just that I didn’t believe that I could do it, that I could take control. Because why would I ever be magic, y’know?”
Will said it casually, but something in Mike's chest twinged at his words.
“But yesterday, I realized that I've always been capable of it. It’s like you said, it’s innate,” Will said shyly. “It’s just me. And I know me.”
“So this power to control the hive mind- it’s been in you the whole time, you just had to unlock it?” Mike asked.
“You were pretty much spot on yesterday, in the field,” Will nodded. “Sometimes I wonder how you know me so well,”
Mike felt his heart speed up a little. “Possibly because I’ve known you forever?” He nudged Will’s knee.
Will laughed, eyes crinkling at the corners. He was beautiful. “No, that can't be it,” He joked. "I think you're a psychic, actually."
“I had faith too, y'know." Mike said. “Sorcerer.” He added with a small smile. He was aware how dangerous this was. How borderline flirtatious he was being.
He couldn’t care less.

Summary
"It's not that bad.” He reassured. “Here, I'll start: I love ceramics, I'm married to someone in this school, and I painted the mural in the cafeteria.
"That's easy!" A kid scoffed from the front, leaning forward. "It's the second one!"
Behind him, the TA's shoulder shook with silent laughter. A grin spread across Will's face. "I hate ceramics."
Or
Will always plays two truths and a lie on the first day of school. It’s just tradition. It’s also tradition to have them guess who he’s married to by the end of the week for extra credit.

"Mike," Will says lowly. "You’re— You’re so close."
Too close, his brain supplies, a little hysterical. Too much.
Mike doesn’t pull away. "I know."
"Why?"
"Keeping up…" Mike exhales a short laugh that Will feels on his neck, "appearances."

Summary
It's 1997 and the ghost of Mike Wheeler walks back into Will Byers' life twice in one day: first in a Midtown coffee shop, then as the writer assigned to his graphic novel. Eight years of awkward distance now have a deadline. Collaboration is a special kind of torture when the person you're building a world with is the one who broke yours.

Summary
Of course, that's when Will sees him. Hopper's got a thick arm wrapped around his shoulders, making him look small, despite the fact that he'd shot up three inches in their last summer together and now stood a whopping five feet and eleven inches tall. His limbs stick out at awkward angles and his trousers are slightly too short, nipping at his ankles and showing off mismatched socks. He looks away from Hopper, and—
Mike's eyes lock with Will's.
Mike Wheeler is somewhere in there, Will is certain. He's going to get his best friend back, and if he ends up with a little more than what he bargained for, well, who is he to complain?
