Growing up Stiles was no stranger to how others saw him, fully aware of the annoyance others felt towards him. It was fine though, he always had Scott by his side to listen to his endless rambling.
Except the thing was, that wasn't such a strong bond as he had initially believed. When the darkness Deaton warned them about starts to fill his head with doubts and fear, he couldn't believe in those bonds like he used to.
Fooling yourself for long enough doesn't make what you're holding onto a reality after-all.

“It was you,” Eddie’s saying, accusing, before the hinges on the door even creak.
“The fuck?”
“It was you,” Eddie repeats and of course he points that time because he’s Eddie goddamn Munson.
“I’m not an idiot,” Eddie huffs, hands thrown toward the vaulted foyer ceiling, as far as he’s stepped across the threshold; “I know when a witch intervenes, when Craft is used, then a debt is owed,” and oh shit. That’s what Eddie knows—thinks he knows, probably knows, fucking fuck. “That’s like,” Eddie gestures broadly, presumptively, even though his eyes are still asking, is it true: “textbook.”
Steve’s quiet for a long beat, weighing his options. He could dodge it. Should dodge it.
What he should definitely not do is cop to it. Not even slightly. Keep it casual. Keep it vague.
Even if it…is true.
“You owe a debt when you ask for Magic.” Everyone knew that. He shifts his weight, crosses his arms, narrows his eyes expectantly at Eddie: “Did you ask?”

Steve has magic, he just doesn't know it. He doesn't believe Dustin no matter how many times he insists that Steve's food is magic, because that is preposterous. Slowly others start to recognize that Steve has magic too, and then Billy comes along with accusations of a love potion when Neil gets a hold of some cookies Steve made and starts acting nice.

Steve expects a lighter to be tossed at him or even just lit and held up in front of his face, instead a flame sparks to life at the end of the cigarette held between his lips. Steve sucks in with a startled delighted laugh. He has seen Billy do this from afar, use his magic to light a cigarette but he has never seen him do it up close.
“That’s so cool.” Steve says before he can stop himself, face heating, why is it that he can never just be cool around Billy? “You ever do that to pick up chicks?” Steve asks, trying to save face and feeling like even more of a dumbass.
“Trying to pick you up.” Billy mumbles under his breath before making a show of coughing.
“What?” Steve asks the words too low for him to make out, he tries to sink into his jacket, shoulders around his ears as Billy starts laughing, sure he is being laughed at.
