Steve’s favorite holiday was Valentine’s Day.
It’s stupid, he knows that, but he can’t help it. He loves love. Always has, always will, no matter how many times it’s burned him in the past. He wants to woo someone, sweep them off their feet, shower them in love and affection. That’s why Valentine’s Day was perfect, it was the excuse he was always looking for, a socialized norm for things Steve’s always longed for.
Except, this year, he was dating Eddie Munson. And if there was one thing about Eddie, it was that he hated Valentine’s Day. Not because he hated love, but because he hated ‘selling out to the corporate big shots’ by buying their overpriced chocolate and stuffed animals. So, they weren't going to celebrate.
That doesn't mean everyone else isn't going to, though.

He imagined the looks on their faces if he told them, the brightening of their features at the prospect of another queer member of the group then squashed by the clarification that he wasn’t all the way gay. He wondered if they’d laugh, call him silly for thinking that was relevant, that he’d still one day marry a woman so it didn’t matter.
Or maybe they’d be angry at him for wasting their time. He could see the betrayal on Eddie’s face, thinking Steve’s feelings for him were some kind of joke. He could envision the trust between them vanishing all because he decided to open his mouth. They might, he thought, close off completely for daring to compare himself to them. Nothing was worth that.
The weekend after he realized he was bisexual, he kept his mouth shut.

It had been two and a half months since the end of Spring Break.
Eddie had been cleared of all charges, The Byers were back in Hawkins like they’d never left, Vecna was dead and gone, and everything was back to normal; or rather as back to normal as Hawkins could get.
Unfortunately for one Steve Harrington, his new normal seemed to be not only his inability to get a date, but also his newfound proclivity towards staring at Eddie Munson’s mouth while he dramatically narrated during a five hour Hellfire session, or counting the freckles on the bridge of his nose, or memorizing the patterns in his honey coloured eyes.
