    Summary

Mark Langsby left America following a series of misfortune that grew over the years. Broken of his inadequacy after losing his job and the passing of his mother, he refused to be a burden onto his extended family and his friends who offered him shelter.
Through his season of depression, he made a bold move: sell off some of his investments and see how far he can make it in Japan.
With only a basic grasp of the language and with the struggle of finding work, it was a grave trial. But he was blessed by the kindness of an umamusume trainer far away from Tokyo - as long as Mark promises to bring an aspiring trainee under his wing to win a G1 race.
The 40 year old American now is committed to taking his place in Japan, no matter how much of a sore thumb he sticks out. Setting aside all his previous ambitions, becoming an Umamusume trainer was the last career path he would have chosen. However, he sees this as a divine sign, with an equally divine lesson to be taught to him.

    Summary

After awakening in an alien world, you are given command of an entire fleet of warships; though, you aren't an admiral. You aren't a sailor, even. You don't know what you're doing here or who these "kansen" are, but one thing is apparent -- someone brought you here for a reason. Why? Why you, of all people?

That's right. You were now in a war consuming the world, perpetuated by an enemy shrouded in obscurity. The war is easy, in the beginning. It is almost like a game. There is good and evil. Us versus them. All you have to do is give the orders and watch your kansen take care of the rest.

War, however, is never so simple, never so easy. Every horrific event one witnesses, every dance with Death one manages to step away from claws itself into the mind, creating thoughts that make the moments between thundering cannon-fire and wailing dive bombers all the more frightful. Moments like these are the worst part of the fighting. Any man's courage will break under the glaring black eyes of enemy cannons ready to let loose a few thousand pounds of compact death unto them. All the while, the slab of metal that will pound you into fleshy nothing may have already begun its course....

The description and title are still a work in progress as is the story. Once I finish this first draft I'll revise it later in a way that will improve the overall narrative. That means the story will initially be awkward but improve over time. I'm open to constructive feedback and ideas as we progress. Leave them in the comments if you have one, I'll see if it works.

    Enjoy :)
