'Curiosity killed the cat.' Never had there been a more accurate statement than that because now, he understood. Tommy could say with his full chest that he understood universe! He got it! He didn't need to die to prove it!
He wasn't supposed to see the deal between Dream and Schlatt, he never should have learned about the stupid Revival Book. So of course he stole it. They left him no choice, he'd never sleep peacefully again knowing he could have done something. All he had to do was make it back; make it back to Pogtopia.
Failure to do so would spell his quick demise. Dream would certainly make sure of that.

Summary
It's raining, when they’re exiled.
Ranboo has his suit jacket pulled over his head, and when droplets slip through to the tips of his claws he hisses and jitters. Sometimes, it almost looks like he'll disappear and reappear, like the endermen he so resembles, but instead he falls to the ground with a pained screech, the calves of his feet burning on impact with the sodden ground where his skirt isn’t long enough to protect.
Still gripping painfully onto Tommy's arm, Dream slowly walks back to where he fell and hits him with the butt of his axe. The screech of pain is distorted, almost otherworldly, and it’d be terrifying if it wasn’t so fucking sad.
“Get up,” he hisses. “Or I'll fucking kill you, and then-“
Dream doesn’t have to finish his sentence. Shakingly, Ranboo gets onto their talons, wincing as they try and match the brutal pace Dream immediately sets back on.
(Tommy tried to save Ranboo. He really did. He'd said it was all him, he lied, but Ranboo had confessed, trying to get him out of this mess, and now he was in it too.)
(He wants to be sick.)

Summary
Even in his sleep, Tommy was never at peace.
Curled up against the dark walls of his bunker, he hugged the old viridian cloak from his exile close to him in lieu of a blanket, shivering. He thrashed violently, kicking out and whimpering as if he was fighting an invisible enemy in his dreams. At times, he screamed, at others, he sobbed violently, but wracked with exhaustion and self-medicated by the potions he took in excess, he was unable to wake even despite the evident distress he was in.
It’d be a stretch for Dream to say he felt guilty, exactly. He had to admit, it was an amusing sight, and it warmed his heart to see him keeping the cloak he’d given him in exile. Seeing him desperately swaddle himself in it to stymie the screaming fits he’d had trying to sleep before was a mix of satisfying and sweet, and the fact it worked was utterly adorable- the little brat still cared about him deep down, he supposed. He could still be saved.

It’s as if the animals have learned to stay clear of the place with daily explosions making the only noise the water washing up on the shore and falling slowly back into the sea. Tommy likes to imagine building a boat and going back to his home. But as soon as the thought crosses his mind, guilt comes rushing through. L’manberg isn’t his home. Logsted is his home. Exile is his home. Dream is his home. He could never betray his only friend.

Something sharp presses against the back of his head, at the divot between his skull and spine, and a familiar voice says:
“Hello, Imp. Funny running into you tonight.”
Tommy’s heart drops into the pit of his abdomen.
“Smile,” he chokes out, biting back the man’s real name while in mask. Always best to be cautious, no matter how alone they might assume they are. “I thought you were on a business trip.” He hides the worst of his shaking under genuine curiosity.
“I was,” Dream shrugs, the tip of his ukaku digging harshly against Tommy’s head. He winces, the warm sensation of blood beading and trickling down his spine. It’s hardly more than a prick, but it’s a warning nevertheless, and Tommy stays stock-still, eyes trained forward.
“But I’m back now,” Dream says a bit louder, throwing his voice like a gauntlet. “And you,” he hums nonchalantly, “broke a rule.”
